What does value mean and can we access some approaches to better understand how to create it, sure we can!
Creating value is by far your the most important decision you'll make, in a nutshell that is your unique selling point. Do not move past this onto next tasks unless you are damn sure you know your USP at 3am at night.
USP is an intersection of what the consumer wants and how you can do that in a way that is better than anyone else!

So lets look at what the Business model generation is suggesting when capturing value:
1. Newness
Is your product a radical innovation on the market, meaning can it satisfy an unmet and unspoken need thus creating a whole new market segment? Think Airbnb, people started renting out their own couches to other people via that platform, that's how the story begun.
2. Performance
Maybe your product is nothing that hasn't been seen before, but does it drive faster ;) or can you deliver a more seamless experience for your customers?
3. Getting the job done
Maybe you offer simply the job that noone else likes doing and is in a need to have that guy that gets the job done...hm?
4. Design
This is not just limited to fashion industry it is very much present in real estate industry as well.....can you rely on having customers simply due to the aestethic standards that go above and beyond?
5. Brand/Status
We all know cars enjoy this type of value but can you build yours just by branding the product and have a raving community to back you up...think Vans off the wall!
5. Price
Lastly, make it cheaper. Make it affordable. Watch out on your expenses. Think Ryanair
There you have it, some approaches to creating value, watch out for the follow up on how to deliver the value :)
Your value proposition is the answer to the question: "Why should I buy from you and not your competition"
